In July 2016 a whole weekend of events took place which was supported and hosted by Severn Valley Country Park.

We are grateful to Alveley and Romsley Parish Council for the generous grant, and all who supported this venture to include:

  • Chris Arnot, Britain's Lost Mines
  • David Poyner, Guided Heritage Walk: In the Shadow of the Mine
  • Miners Trail: with Colin Knowles, Gerry Scriven
  • Ron Whittle, OBE: A Shift, a Shovel and a Pony and Trap
  • Granville Miners: "A History of Coal Mining" Presentation and exhibition of artefacts
  • Geology Activity with local experts from “Geologists in the Geopark”
  • Alveley Village Band and highley Highley Colliery Band performed over the weekend in the Marquee loaned by Heads Potatoes
  • LA Recordings, Film Footage: Morse's Level and display
  • Alveley Weighbridge and Coal Mining Heritage Exhibition
  • Archive material and photographs from SVCP, Ray Davis (Sally Bunn's Archive Collection) and Mandy Burgess and a small display of Alveley Historical Society's Archive material.
